Our Programmes & Initiatives
Authentic Learning Experiences
Aligned with the MOE STELLAR framework, the English Language Department curates authentic hands-on experiences to bring learning to life. Our students participate in termly activities that connect directly to their STELLAR topics. These experiences—such as the P1 and P2 MLEA activities, P4 ice cream-making workshop and the P6 Angel and Mortal activity — provide opportunities to develop critical thinking, collaborative creatively and contextualise real-world application. Designing and implementing these unique experiences provide meaningful and memorable opportunities that transform learning beyond the classroom.
Supporting Learners of Diverse Needs
The school offers support programmes catered to embrace diverse learners. Selected Primary 4 and 5 students participate in Reading Circles, an enrichment programme by the Gifted Education Branch. This is conducted by trained teachers to develop advanced reading, thinking and discussion skills. Selected Primary 5 students are further challenged through a Debate Programme, which includes a specialised workshop conducted in collaboration with Tampines Meridian Junior College, to nurture critical thinking, articulation and persuasive speaking skills.
The Learning Support Programme (LSP) provides early intervention for Primary 1 and 2 pupils to strengthen foundational literacy skills. It is conducted daily during curriculum time by trained Learning Support Teachers. For Primary 3 and 4 students, the two-year School-based Dyslexia Remediation (SDR) programme supports pupils identified through dyslexia screening. The Reading Remediation Programme (RRP) is catered to Primary 3, 4 and 5 students who will benefit from targeted reading strategies.
English Language Week
English Language Week is an annual school event designed to let students see English as a tool for expression and connection through a creative platform. We kick off English Language Week with Book Character Day - a day when students and teachers come dressed as their favourite book character. In class, they share about their favourite book and during recess, they can participate in storytelling sessions. In the same week, each level goes through a carefully-curated programme, such as the P1 learning journey to River Wonders and the Primary 3 Readers’ Theatre. The goal of these activities is to achieve enjoyment and nurture a love for the subject.
Library Programmes
To nurture a love for reading, our school library organizes initiatives such as the Top Borrower of the Month, The Reading Tree Challenge and storytelling sessions. Classes also maintain mini-class libraries to encourage a positive reading culture and foster a lifelong joy of reading.
P3 Theatre Experience
The theatre experience exposes Primary 3 students to live performances that enrich their language learning and expand their vocabulary. By watching plays such as Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical and The Ant and The Caterpillar, students practise oracy, experience expressive language in context and learn audience etiquette.
P1 Celebrating Talents
Primary One students are given a creative platform to showcase their language skills through a plethora of performances such as songs, skits, poetry recitation and Readers’ Theatre. These class presentations encourage the expression of the English language through collaboration and creativity.
